This letter is to David Moore and others who may have the same
questions: If you read the amendments, some of that power was
amended out of the bill. The fine was set, and has been part of
the Act since inception, to help regulate people who are
practicing without a license. If they do not hold a license, then
it does no good to take the license away; therefore, since
inception they have had a fine built in especially for those
purposes. The new proposed bill brings our standards up to more
current guidelines, including setting up continuing education
which is already mandated in most states. Our licensure fees are
also among the lowest in the country - the Board can't even staff
a secretary to answer phone calls except on a minimal parttime
basis. The bill just allows the Board to set the fees, without
excess, to fit their needs....it says "not over
$100"....and the Rules will set up the amount...which
presently is being proposed at $75. The Rules will also set
things up like continuing education specifics and timelines.....
Please call me 405/647-5421 or write to me at JEG3434@aol.com with questions/concerns. Having studied the issue,
I believe this bill is greatly needed for our state, and has been
for some time now. Our own professionals have worked up the
writing of the bill, and have worked hard over the past 8 mos. to
come up with what they think is fair for professionals and the
public....Feel free to seek more information from me or from any
of the names listed above this section...and I sincerely hope you
will change your mind about its wording. Thank you. Jan Goldman,

My concern is that I see no reason why our state board needs the
authority to levy fines and seek prosecution of SLP's and
Audiologists. This seems like some kind of power grab and I will
call my representative and ask that this bill be killed. This
will allow us all to have input on the changes that need to be
made and the bill can be resubmitted next year.
