Dr. Kurt Kalies and his staff at Hearing Healthcare, Inc. celebrated their 70th year of business Friday.
“Improving people’s lives and seeing the difference in communications is something I am passionate about,” Kalies said. “When people start hearing again, it opens up a whole new world for them. We are thankful for the patronage of all of our customers.”
The business started in 1947 and was originally started to help veterans returning from World War II and those helping the war effort in the factories at home.
“A lot of soldiers and those working stateside were coming up with hearing problems,” Kalies said. “The technology was improving around this time and people were trying to help those with hearing problems. Hearing aid manufacturers started to research different things at the time.”
In 1976, Dr. Kalises’ father took over the business, changed the name to Allan’s Hearing and it operated under that name until 1991 when it was rebranded Hearing Healthcare, Inc.
While he was attending Oklahoma State University, Kalies would help his father out at the business.
